Young Professional's Group
The branch's Young Professionals Group is entering a new era.
We are continuing to build an active and enthusiastic YPG.
The YPG is group of like-minded young IT professionals who maintain
close links with the University and colleges; we are the IT professionals
of tomorrow.
YPG activities are open to all, whether you're a BCS member or
not. However membership provides a number of advantageous benefits,
which including
25% discount on selected books, free monthly issues of Computing
magazine and membership to worklink database.
At present the BCS offer extremely competitive membership
fees. If you are currently a BCS member and between the
ages of 18 and 35, then you automatically fall under the
YPG sector. More information on the YPG in general can be
found at BCS
HQ YPG.
Student Workshops (Spring 2008)
Click here to find out what we have been doing in our workshops.
Some of our future plans include:
- Holding our own meetings on topics that are pertinent to
the younger generation of professionals.
- Demonstrating to local employers the cutting-edge research
carried out by Students and Graduates in the university and
the advantages of employing us.
- Bringing Students/Graduates and prospective employers together.
We would encourage our members, students and graduates to come
along to our monthly meetings. The benefits of attending meetings
include:
- Discovering what computing in a commercial environment is
all about.
- Learning about the latest computing technologies.
- Networking amongst a group of professionals from a diverse
academic and professional background.
- Potential job opportunities.
- A valuable addition to your curriculum vitae.
